Climate Solutions

YCN is actively in collaborations with cleantech startups and renewable energy and low-carbon fuel project developers in North America, Brazil, Africa, India, and Europe.

Here are some of fields and sustainability topics we are involved with:

Hydrogen production – Alternative pathways for low-carbon H2 production taking account of feedstock processing (solid, liquid, and gaseous hydrocarbonic and water streams), power supply (renewable energy), and byproducts in addition to hydrogen (electricity, O2, carbon black, and biogenic CO2).

H2 production

Synthetic fuels and H2 carriers (SAF, methanol, and ammonia) – Technical collaboration with stakeholders conducting studies for building plants in strategic geographies (renewable resources hotspots) for production of bio-and e-fuels at scale through thermo- and electro catalytic process.

Renewable energy and fuels and clean cooking initiatives – Support of projects and technologies for carbon avoidance and reduction intended to produce renewable natural gas, clean electricity, and efficient cooking with electric apparatus.

Sustainable farming and carbon removals – Business partnerships for projects’ scale-up and technology deployment for enhancing soil carbon removal (biochar and weathering), and atmospheric CO2 capture through engineered systems (artificial machinery), and nature-based solutions (CDR interventions).

WASH and atmospheric methane removal – Market prospecting for water treatment biological products, and modular electro-oxidation systems for reclaiming energy. Also, collaboration with R&D group working on nature-inspired solutions to mitigate methane in the atmosphere with potential for ocean iron fertilization and solar radiation management.

Biogas upgradation and usage – Processing the biogas from digesters, landfills, wastewater plants and other sources to separate the methane and CO2. Then to process each of these gases to the desired purity and to find applications for the final products. An example is the use of CO2 to adjust the pH of irrigation water on farms.

Researching the field of carbon offsets and helping companies to qualify for them – Our tech partners provide assistance for companies and individuals whose business lies in removing carbon or avoiding GHG emissions..

Utilization of biowaste – This is closely related to items 1 and 2 above. Agricultural waste, forest waste, municipal solid waste can also be processed into other products besides fuels, such as biochar which makes soils more fertile and has many other applications.

Finding new applications for DAC (Direct Air Capture) modules – These modules take CO2 out of the atmosphere. They can be very convenient when it is difficult or expensive to ship CO2 from another location. With DAC modules, the CO2 can be taken up where it is being used.

We will be extending our network to companies making climate friendly products for farmers and innovative building materials.
